Hi everyone,

The Friends of the Library Book Sale returns April 23–27.  It’s one of the biggest events of the year! With hundreds of thousands of items available, there’s truly something for everyone. Last year’s sale welcomed over 5,000 visitors from across the region and raised $25,000 to support programs and services that make a real difference in our community.

Every dollar raised goes right back into the library, supporting initiatives like Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, enhancing our collection, and sponsoring digital platforms like Hoopla. It’s a powerful example of what this community can accomplish together.

Interested in volunteering? We’d love your help! The sale is made possible by dedicated volunteers, and signing up for a shift is a great way to get involved. You can also learn more about the Friends and how to stay connected at ofpl.info/friends.

We hope to see you there!

Digital Minimalism

by Cal Newport

This book really made me stop and think about how much of my attention gets chipped away by constant notifications and digital noise. One idea that stuck with me is how those small interruptions keep us from ever settling into deep, sustained thought. Newport doesn’t argue against technology, but instead challenges us to be more intentional with it and use it in ways that actually support the kind of life we want. It’s a reflective read that nudged me to reconsider a few habits.

Project Hail Mary
by Andy Weir
Ryland Grace wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of his mission, his crewmates, or even his own name. As his memory slowly returns, he discovers he is humankind’s last hope against a mysterious, devastation level threat. Smart, suspenseful, and surprisingly heartfelt, this sci-fi adventure is a must read for fans of survival stories, space exploration, and unexpected friendship.
