Hello Readers,

Big things are on the horizon at the O’Fallon Public Library. Starting this fall, we’ll be hosting a series of in-person Community Engagement Workshops to gather your input on what a future library could look like. These conversations will help guide next steps toward a modern space and services that meet our growing community’s needs. We’re excited to share more soon, so keep an eye on upcoming newsletters, social media, and our website for dates and details!

Laura's Pick:

After We Burned

by Marieke Nijkamp

After We Burned is a gripping YA novel that centers around a deadly school fire and unravels into an exploration of grief, accountability, and hope. The inclusive cast of characters tackles sexual harassment, sexism, alcoholism, abuse, and same sex love with honesty and care. Told from multiple points of view, the truth of the fire is exposed along with the secrets held fast by the community. The teens fight to be seen and to survive in a community that often fails them. Readers seeking a raw but compassionate story that is full of hard truths will be inspired that, out of the ashes, something better can grow. I give it ⭐⭐⭐.

Maggie's Pick

Piranesi
by Susanna Clarke
I’m currently reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. This intoxicating and hypnotic novel is set in a dreamlike alternate reality. It’s a gripping mystery, a journey through a brilliantly imagined fantasy world, and a thoughtful meditation on the human condition—on feeling lost and being found. The House is both haunting and beautiful, and the story unfolds like a spell, drawing the reader in to uncover its secrets, page by page.
