Hello,

We're thrilled to share exciting updates about our recent collaborations aimed at making our library an even more welcoming and accessible space for everyone in the O'Fallon community!

First, we've completed certification to become a sensory-inclusive space for individuals with sensory needs. Our team members have received specialized training to better understand and assist individuals with sensory sensitivities, and we've introduced sensory kits with noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and weighted lap pads, available at our Children's Help Desk.

Second, we've launched a new accessibility toolbar on our website. This innovative tool helps users with vision impairments, dyslexia, and other unique needs navigate our online resources more easily.

O'Fallon is home to a diverse group of people, each with unique needs. By integrating these tools and training, we are enhancing our services to be more inclusive, ensuring that every community member feels welcomed and supported, whether in person or online.

At the heart of our mission is the belief that the library is for everyone, regardless of need or ability level. We are committed to making our library a place where everyone feels they belong. To learn more about these and other initiatives, check out our Collaborations and Partnerships page.

Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel
by Mariah Marsden

This is the Anne with an "E" that we all love, but in graphic format.
Anne is as delightfully quirky as ever and it is so fun to see
her adventures played out in images. The art is very beautiful and it
showcases how magical of a place Green Gables truly is. I especially love the depictions
of fall. (My favorite season!) A great read for all ages! I would also recommend it to people wanting to
give graphic novels a try and not sure where to start!

Owlfred's Corner

Join Owlfred each month to discover the vibrant personalities of the OFPL library staff. In this edition, we’re excited to highlight Ashley! You’ll find her working hard to assist patrons in our Circulation Department. You can also see her work on our Facebook and Instagram pages. If you follow us on social media, you know she and Owlfred have a special friendship. Owlfred loves the camera, and Ashley is always ready to feature him and his antics. She always has a kind word, a smile, and her unique charm.Next time you see Ashley, say hi—and if you have a message for Owlfred, she'll be happy to pass it on!

What kind of music do you like? I like classic rock and 90s alternative which I believe is turning into classic rock.I don't like -that- though.

If you could get rid of one month out of the year, which month would it be?

I'd get rid of January. It always seems like that month lasts as long as 3 other months.

If you could speak any language, what would it be?

Maybe Ancient Egyptian? Spanish is probably more practical though.

What fictional book world would you be a part of?

I would be the best little Hobbit! I would stay in my little hobbit hole and eat potatoes and garden and gossip about the neighbors. It would be so much fun to judge that Baggins boy who keeps having the unsavory wizard come over.

Other than a great selection of books, what is something our library offers that you find exceptional?  Excellent customer service! 😉 But probably the programming! We have some awesome programs, especially the Youth Services department. I love seeing the parade of littles come through for Book Babies and Toddler Tales!
