Hello Library Lovers!

As I write this on Wednesday afternoon, the Friends of the Library are hard at work setting up for the Annual Book Sale that launches Thursday, April 25, at 9 am. It is wonderful to see so many volunteers teeming around the building in support of this great event.

Last year, we had over 4,000 people visit the library during the five days of the sale, which raised just over $15,000. If you can't attend on the first day, don't worry—new items will be added throughout the sale.

The sale runs through Monday, April 29. Come by anytime during normal business hours to shop. The Friends accept cash, card, check, and Venmo. You can even donate books during the sale if you need to make some room for your new purchases.

Proceeds support initiatives like our Outdoor Activity Space, the StoryWalk at Thoman Park, and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, among others.

Happy Shopping!

Ashley's Pick:

On Account of The Gum

by Adam Rex

I totally judged this book by its cover, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. It's reminiscent of "If You Give a Moose a Muffin," but with the added fun of things getting caught in your hair. It brought back memories of that day I got my hairbrush tangled in my hair at my grandma's place—though thankfully, there were no rabbits involved!

Stephanie's Pick:

Pearl
by Josh Malerman

Pear is a quirky yet spine-chilling tale that hooks you from the start. At first glance, it might seem like a simple story about a pig, but don't be fooled—this one's got layers. Its eerie twists and turns will keep you on your toes, and just when you think you've got it figured out, it throws in something unexpected. Even after you've closed the book, Pearl has a sneaky way of creeping back into your thoughts. It's the kind of story that's fun to read but might give you goosebumps when you least expect it!

What kind of music do you like? Folk music like John Denver and Noah Kahan. A fun fact about me is that my first favorite music genre was metal.

If you could get rid of one month out of the year, which month would it be?

I would get rid of the month of July because it's too hot!

If you could speak any language, what would it be?

I would LOVE to learn Latin. I'm a huge fan of the classics.

What fictional book world would you be a part of? I would like to live in the world of the Thursday Next series. Literature, mystery, and Sci-Fi?! Sign me up!

Other than a great selection of books, what is something our library offers that you find exceptional? I love our eResources for magazines and audiobooks. I also believe that we offer amazing programs for kids, teens, and adults!
